Age: UnknownSquad: 11th Squad Biography Aramaki Makizou is one of the underling shinigami of the Eleventh Division. However, he is well known enough by his vice captain Kusajika Yachiru to have been given a nickname, “Makimaki,” though that nickname becomes “Moustache Guy” because she has momentarily forgotten that she calls him Makimaki. He wears the standard shinigami robes, and as a member of the Eleventh Division he carries his zanpakutou with him. He has longish, slicked back, black hair and, as his new nickname may imply, a moustache. His usual duties seem to be general grunt work, such as cleaning. This was implied when he passes two of his comrades when he is with their captain going to stop Rukia’s execution, and they wonder why Makizou is even with him instead of cleaning with them. Makizou encounters an incognito Inoue Orihime and Ishida Uryuu in a drunken stupor. He is slightly belligerent towards them when they claim to be from the Eleventh Division, and despite his idiotic appearance, he still knows that something’s up with these two because they don’t have zanpakutou on them. He grabs Orihime and looks just inside the collar on her robes and points out that they’re wearing robes from the Twelfth Division. He is then momentarily knocked out by some members of the Twelfth Division, who are unknowingly bombs planted by their captain Kurotshuchi Mayuri. When Mayuri sets off the bombs, Orihime releases her shield and saves Makizou, much to his surprise. The experience quickly sobers him up, and Ishida orders him to take Orihime and run. She fights him, and goes as far as to bite Makizou, which results in him accidentally knocking her out. In the course of running away, Yachiru comes across them and takes them both to the Eleventh Division Headquarters, where Captain Zaraki Kenpachi, Madarame Ikkaku, and Ayasegawa Yumichika are waiting. Once Kenpachi decides that he will assist Orihime in freeing her comrades and saving Rukia, Makizou continues to tag along with his superiors and the ryoka. When the Seventh and Ninth Division captains and vice captains appear in order to stop the group, Makizou is the one who identifies them. While Makizou is a loyal member of the Eleventh Division, many of the orders he takes seem to be because he is afraid of people more powerful than himself, and as a result makes various attempts to suck up to his superiors. He is somewhat jealous of the way Orihime calls Yachiru by her first name. Makizou’s character is quite shallow, which may explain why he is still a grunt-level shinigami. |
